Notary Boom

In the recent years, the notary business has experienced a boom. The potential to make easy money as a notary loan signing agent has attracted many persons seeking to become self-employed. While it is not a get-rich-quick opportunity, it definitely is a get quick slow opportunity. Just as with any business it takes time to build a reputation and a steady flow of customers. They have to know and trust you to be willing to shell out $150+ per loan signing. While this industry may have hit somewhat of a bubble with too many people thinking they can make $100,000 the first year, there is still going to be a demand for this kind of specialized professional. If you think about it, before when you wanted a home loan, you would just go down to the local savings and loan and do all the paperwork there. However, since the internet has become viable marketplace, many lenders have a strong internet presence and little to no local presence, such as Bank of America, etc. So, the demand for loan signing agents is ever increasing as more and more borrowers go to the internet for their home loan. Since loan signing agents are a relatively new idea, some companies have developed something called a Certified Signing Agent or CSA. The funny part about certification is that there is no standard set by a government agency or any other. In fact, the National Notary Association has been the front runner in this certification. The irony is that the NNA doesn't train the signing agents properly. It is extremely important to know that certification is not required to become a signing agent, but is sometimes helpful if you want your potential customers to know that you had formal training. It is also important to choose a training company that will teach you what you really need to know.
